LENA Start is an 8-week parent education program for families with children under age 3. Families learn how everyday back-and-forth talk supports early brain development, language growth, and school readiness. The program is offered in English and Spanish at multiple Mesquite ISD elementary campuses.

Little Readers is a monthly school library story time for families with young children up to age 4. Families enjoy interactive reading, hands-on activities, and time for children to make friends, build language skills, and learn alongside their families.

The Promise League connects families with meaningful ways to make a difference at their child’s school. Through campus PTA/PTO groups, volunteer opportunities, and family engagement initiatives, parents, guardians, grandparents, and community members can support students, staff, and school communities.

Parent Workshops are free weekly sessions offered in English and Spanish for MISD parents and guardians. Each workshop provides practical tools, resources, and support to help families guide their child’s academic journey and continue growing themselves.

Early Language | Birth–3 Years

The first three years are a powerful time for brain growth, language development, and bonding. During this stage, everyday moments like reading, playing, and talking help children build the foundation they need for future learning.

Little Readers is a monthly school library story time where young children and their families enjoy interactive reading, songs, activities, and time to connect with others in a welcoming school setting.

Early Learners | Ages 3–5 Years

Between ages 3 and 5, children grow quickly in language, confidence, social skills, and independence. This stage helps children practice routines, interact with others, and prepare for a successful transition into Pre-K and kindergarten.

Little Readers
Little Readers helps young children build early literacy through monthly school library story time, interactive books, songs, and hands-on activities. Families also become familiar with their neighborhood school and receive ideas to keep learning going at home.

Mesquite ISD Pre-K
Mesquite ISD Pre-K offers high-quality early learning focused on language, literacy, math readiness, and social-emotional growth. If your child turns 3 or 4 before September 1, visit the Mesquite ISD Pre-K page to learn more about enrollment.

School Years | PreK–Grade 12

During the school years, family engagement plays an important role in student success. When families stay connected, informed, and involved, students are more likely to attend school regularly, build confidence, strengthen social skills, and stay on track for future opportunities.
